“My eyes are an ocean in which my dreams are reflected” ~ Anna M. Uhlich.
Hello, my lovely blue-eyed Gals!
This is part two in my five-part series on the best eye makeup for your eye color.
As I covered in my article on brown eyes, not all eyes in the same color family are identical. Some women have eyes with a predominantly warm undertone and others have a cool undertone or a combination of both. So, the key to really making your eyes sparkle is by wearing the correct tones of makeup.
Wearing the wrong colors can make your eyes look dull, tired, and less noticeable. Use the guide below to find the correct colors of eye makeup to really make your blue eyes look their brightest and most beautiful.

Warm Blue Eyes
Do your eyes have a lot of yellow in them in the form of gold flecks, amber around the pupil, or are they an obvious aqua or turquoise tone? If your answer was yes, then you have warm blue eyes. Celebrities that share your eyes are Julianne Hough, Cameron Diaz, Brittany Snow, Nicole Kidman, and Kirsten Dunst.
Your warm eyes will look best in shades of orange (yes that’s right), yellow-orange, and warm violets. If you think I am crazy for suggesting you apply orange shadow on your eyes, then take a look at the chart below. Per the color wheel below these are complimentary colors to the warm blue and/or blue-green tones in your eyes.
Here are some suggestions for eyeshadow –
- Ivory
- Pale Warm Yellow-Orange
- Peachy-Pinks
- Peach/Apricot
- Gold
- Copper
- Warm Purples/Violets
- Warm Blues (strategically placed and blended with another darker color)
- Terra-Cotta
- Rust
- Nutmeg Brown
- Deep Warm Brown
Wear dark chocolate brown, dark warm blue, or bronze/copper eyeliner. Mascara in black, dark navy and dark brown will look best.
Gold and Blue
Recreate this look with the Honeybee Gardens Pressed Eyeshadow Single in Pacific, Zuzu Luxe Eyeshadow in Egyptian Gold, and DAB Herb Makeup Coconut Cream Eyeliner in Black. Start by blending Pacific all over lids, up into the crease and smudged along the lower lash line. Dab the Egyptian Gold eyeshadow onto the center of upper and lower lids, just below the lashes. Line upper and lower waterline with the Coconut Cream Eyeliner and finish with the Phyto-Pigments Ultra Natural Mascara from Juice Beauty.
Purple Smokey Eye
Get this look with Honeybee Gardens Pressed Eyeshadow Singles in Cameo and Daredevil and, Organic Herbal Liquid Eyeliner from DAB Herb Makeup in Black. Apply Cameo all over lids and blend it up into the crease. Then apply a thin line of the liquid black eyeliner to upper lashline and smudge. Blend Daredevil all over top lids, going slightly into the crease and smudge softly under lower lashline as well. Finish with Mineral Fusion Lash Curling Mascara in Gravity.
Pretty Peach
Create this simple look with the Mesmerize Eye Color Classic eyeshadow stick in Embrace from Vapour Organic Beauty all over your lids. Lightly apply Effortless Eyeliner from Honeybee Gardens in the shade Blue Jeans to upper and lower lashline. Blend for a softly smudged effect. Achieve this look by applying Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi Use Radiant stick in Brilliance all over the top and bottom lids, blend well. Blend Mesmerize Eye Color Classic from Vapour in the shade Smolder into creases. Line upper and lower waterline with the Coconut Cream Liner in Brown (black/brown) and finish with the Organic Herb Mascara in Black from DAB Herb Makeup.
Deep Brown and Copper Smokey Eye
Rock this smokey eye by applying Fruit Pigmented Eyeshadow from 100% Pure Cosmetics in Gold Espresso all over upper lids into eye crease, extending outwards slightly past the outer corner of eyes, blend well. Smudge this same color along the lower lash line. Dab some Fruit Pigmented Eyeshadow in the shade Bronze Gold onto the center of upper lids. Line upper and lower lash line with Creamy Long Last Liner in Dark Cacao and finish with Maracuja Mascara in Dark Chocolate from 100% Pure Cosmetics.
Cool Blue Eyes
Eyes with white flecks, obvious gray and/or blue-violet undertones are considered cool. Think Elizabeth Taylor, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Zooey Deschanel, and Taylor Swift.
Your cool eyes will look best in cooler toned shadows of pink-browns, grays, violets, and deep blues (in the correct places and amounts). Here are some suggestions –
- White
- Light Lemon Yellow
- Pale Pinks
- Pale Violet
- Deep Purple/Violet
- Rose Gold
- Silver/Pewter
- Charcoal Gray
- Nudes Tones
- Cocoa Brown
Black, pewter, deep blue, and deep cocoa eyeliners paired with deep black, darkest blue or brown mascara will tie it all together.

Black & Nude
You can get this simple yet very classic look by brushing Gabriel Eyeshadow in Sable all over lids and up into the crease. Line upper and lower lash line in black. Create thick winged eyeliner on upper lids using Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner in Raven and finish with jet black mascara.
