The Best Eye Makeup For Hazel Eyes

Hello, you gorgeous hazel-eyed beauties!

This is the 5th and final installment in my five-part series on the best eye makeup for your eye color.

I saved the best for last because you truly have the most beautiful eyes in my humble opinion. Hazel eyes can range from soft and muted to bright and glassy and be quite an interesting mix of colors. They are very chameleon-like.

What Are Hazel Eyes?

If your eyes have a brown, bronze, amber, or grey base mixed with green, blue or dark grey and change from light to dark you have hazel eyes. Some eyes are a mix of 3 of those colors and some are only green and brown for example. Here are several pictures to help give you more of an idea… Do you see your eyes or something close to them below?

In order to really make your eyes stand out, it is best to pinpoint the main overall color in your eyes. Is it green, blue, gray or amber/bronze? Do you eyes have a warmer or cooler undertone? If you are not sure that is okay just keep reading… 🙂

Hazel Blue or Grey Eyes

This eye color usually has a cool smokey appearance to it that can range from pale to deep. I think this is one of the rarest eye colors. I could be wrong but it is not one I have seen very often. I met a guy once who had almost charcoal grey eyes. They were amazing! A friend of mine is lucky enough to have the really deep blue smokey kind mixed with a muted warm green. Her eyes are like a tide pool. In keeping with color theory, the contrasting color of blue is orange.

The following eyeshadow shades will be most flattering –

• Ivory
• Pinks and Nudes
• Yellows from Soft to Deep and Golden
• Oranges from Soft to Deep and Burnt
• Golds from Bright to Antique
• Greens
• Purples
• Silver and Pewter

Choose black, charcoal, deep blue or deep purple eyeliners and mascara. 

Nude Smokey Eye

This is a great every day look for your eye color. Apply a medium nude shade all over the lid and almost up to your brow bone. Dust a small amount of a light nude shade onto the outer portion of your brow bone blending well. Then apply a deep smoky brown shadow to the outer corner of the eyelid blending it into the crease. Apply a little gold shadow to the lower lash line followed by the same deep brown shade and smudge it out. Next, apply black or dark brown liner to upper lid in a thin line. Get it as close to your lashline as possible and lightly smudge it in so that there is no visible line. Finish with two coats of black or black/brown mascara on top and bottom lashes.

Lavender Eyeshadow

Create a soft feminine look with a lovely lavender eyeshadow. This shade will compliment the cool tones in your eyes. Start by sweeping a pale dove grey shadow all over the lid and along bottom lashline. Apply a smokey lavender shadow to the outer corner of lid blending in towards the crease. Sweep same shade along the lower lashline. Apply a very thin line of a black liquid liner to upper lashline getting as close to the lashline as possible. Finish by curling lashes and applying 2-3 coats of black mascara.

Dramatic Smokey Eye

Don’t be afraid to turn up the drama with a really bold smokey eye. This is a great evening look. Apply a matte white shadow all over lid sweeping up to the brow bone. Next, apply a charcoal gray shadow all over the lid and along the lower lashline. Then apply a matte or shimmery (depends on your personal preference) black shadow to the outer corner of lid blending it into the crease. Also, apply it to the lower lashline carefully blending it without smudging. Finish with a thin line of black liquid liner on and 2-3 coats of black mascara.

Hazel Green Eyes

This is what I guess is considered the typical hazel eye color. However, hazel-green eyes have quite a range actually. They can be very pale and almost yellow in appearance like citrine or they can be bright and clear to deep and soft. Either way, they are beautiful! Since green is the predominant color in your eye the complementary color is red.

The following eyeshadows will bring out the best in your eyes –

• Pale Yellows
• Pinks/Nudes
• Rich Burgundy
• Rich Red Plum Shades
• Antique Gold
• Bronze
• Copper
• Smokey Mossy Greens
• Deep Blues
• Dark Chocolate

Wear dark brown, bronze, deep green, and charcoal eyeliner and espresso or burgundy and black mascaras.

Copper Eyeshadow

Create a soft warm smokey eye with copper shadow. This will bring out the warm tones in your eye. Apply a deep copper shade all over the lid and into the crease sweeping up just under the brow bone. Sweep the same shade along lower lashes and smudge. Then apply a thick line of black or dark brown liquid liner to upper lashline only. If you want to add some copper glitter to the inner corner of the eye. Finish with 2-3 coats of dark brown or black mascara.

Burgundy Smokey Eye

Really bring out the green in your eyes with a red-based shadow. Go soft or smokey either way your eyes will sparkle! If you want to go with the first look apply a nude rose shade all over the lid and sweep it up onto the brow bone. Blend a slightly deeper shade into your crease and along the lower lashline. Line eyes (top and bottom) with a deep plum or burgundy eye pencil and smudge it out so there are no harsh lines. Finish with 2-3 coats of black or burgundy mascara. For a more dramatic smokey eye smudge a burgundy or plum shadow all over the lid and underneath the eyes.

Blue Velvet Eye Makeup

If you are in the mood to try something different and feel particularly adventurous and daring then this eye look is for you. No one can pull off a super bold smoky eye better than you hazel-eyed beauties! Start by smoothing a very pale nude shade all over the lid up to the brow bone. Then take a deep aubergine shadow and blend it into the crease and up just below the brow bone. Next, apply a very deep blue shadow all over the lid blending it into the crease. Take this same shadow and blend it under the eye along the lower lashline. Blend well. Line the eyes with a black kohl pencil. Smudge it out so there are no harsh lines. Finish with 2-3 coats of black mascara and a dot of gold highlighter in the inner corners of the eye.
