Eye Makeup For Green Eyes: From Icy Mint To Deep Emerald
“But for your eyes. Green as spring grass, and sparkling like dew in the morning sun.”
~ S.M. Carrière,
Hello, green-eyed Beauties!
This is part four in my five-part series on the best eye makeup for your eye color.
There is something so intriguing about a woman with green eyes. But one thing I have noticed is that similar to blue eyes if you are not wearing the correct shades of eye makeup greens eyes can look dull and not even green at all. It is important for anyone to wear the correct colors, but I find it is even more, important for you emerald eyed beauties.
The shades you choose will largely depend on the undertone of your eye. Meaning, are your eyes warm or cool? As with all eye colors, there is a range from light and icy to deep or warm. Here I will go over the different variations and give a simple guide on which colors to choose.
Light & Icy Green Eyes
Light, icy cool green eyes are often mistaken for blue eyes. When you think of green eyes normally the first image that pops into your head are warm or kelly green toned eyes. So, I wanted to give a shout out to the gorgeous icy mint-eyed ladies. You are stunning! Let your natural beauty sparkle by using these colors of eye shadow –
- Icy or Aqua Greens
- Icy or Warm Pinks
- Icy Violets
- Cool Plums
- Smokey Burgundy
- Soft Charcoal
Choose soft black, charcoal, deep plum, and dark teal liners paired with black, aubergine, or deep green mascara. Here are some looks you may want to try.
Violet Smokey Eye
Create this look using Ecco Bella FlowerColor Shimmer Dust in Star or Honeybee Gardens Pressed Mineral Shadow in Dragonfly all over lids. Blend Au Naturale Cosmetics Creme Shadow in the shade Aubergine from the outer corner of the eye into the crease creating a v-shape. Line top and bottom lids with a smoky plum eyeliner and finish with black mascara.
A Touch of Teal
Really bring out the color of your eyes by adding a pop of icy teal. Start by smoothing a light nude shadow from lid to brow bone such as Fruit Pigmented Eye Shadow in Sugar from 100% Pure or Fawn FlowerColor Eyeshadow from Ecco Bella. Blend a deeper nude shade into the crease and along the lower lashline like Ecco Bella Deep Taupe FlowerColor Eyeshadow or Mojave Pressed Mineral Shadow from Honeybee Gardens. Next, blend an icy teal shadow onto the inner portion of the upper lid and lightly into inner corners. Try Octopus Mineral Eyeshadow from Tater Rounds Beauty or Iridescent Teal from the Honest Beauty Ocean Blue Eyeshadow Trio. Add a touch of highlight to inner corners and line the lower waterline with a nude liner and finish with deep brown or black mascara.
Peach & Black
Recreate this simple look by blending light peach shadow all over lids. I recommend Vapour Organic Beauty Mesmerize Eye Color Classic in the shade Embrace 621 or Tater Rounds Beauty Mineral Shadow in Vintage Peach. Smudge a deeper peach shade into the crease and along the lower lashline. Line upper and lower waterline with a black eye pencil and smudge. Curl lashes and then apply 2-3 coats of black mascara.
Warm Olive Green Eyes
Classic olive green eyes can be made even more striking by wearing warm shades of plum and red. Red is opposite green on the color wheel. You can really rock a smoky eye, so this should be your go-to look. The following eyeshadows and eyeliners will look best on you –
- Pale Warm Yellow
- Bright or Antique Gold
- Bright or Deep Copper
- Mossy Greens
- Warm Burgundy
- Warm Plums
- Deep Blues
Deepest brown, black, deep bronze, deep navy, and deep aubergine eyeliners. Espresso or black mascara.
Burgundy Smoky Eye
Get this super sexy smoky eye look by blending a warm brown shadow all over lids and just under the brow bone. Consider trying Haze Phyto-Pigments Cream Shadow Stick from JuiceBeauty.com or the Fruit Pigmented Satin Eye Shadow in Bora Bora from 100% Pure Cosmetics. Blend a warm burgundy shadow such as Mulberry or Plum from Real Purity Cosmetics, all over the lid and along lower lash line. Then blend a really deep aubergine shadow like Fig Fruit Pigmented Eye Shadow from 100% Pure into the crease blending up to create a v-shape and outer third of lower lash line. Tight line upper lash line and line lower waterline with black liner and finish with 2-3 coats of black mascara.
Copper Smoky Eye
Add a beautiful metallic touch to your eyes with this look that can be tailored for day or evening. For daytime – blend deep copper shadow all over the lid and up into the crease. Add gold shadow to the lid stopping just before the outer corner and smudge softly along lower lash line. Zuzu Luxe eyeshadows in Sahara and Egyptian Gold would be perfect. Tight line upper lash line with a deep brown or black eye pencil and finish with 2-3 coats of espresso or black mascara. For evening – add winged liner using a black liquid liner like the Organic Herbal Liquid Liner from DAB Herb Makeup or Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner in Black Pearl.
Navy & Plum
If you are in the mood for something a little different then this is a great look to try. Again this can be tailored for day or evening. Blend a deep navy blue shadow like Indigo from DAB Herb Makeup or Navy from Gabriel Cosmetics all over lids. Next, blend a deep plum shade like African Violet from Au Naturale Cosmetics into the crease and along the lower lash line. Line upper lash line with a black eye pencil and finish with 2-3 coats of black mascara. For an evening look add winged liner using a black liquid eyeliner.
The above are just a few examples of how you can play up your unique eye color. Have fun experimenting and trying out these and other looks. As with my other articles, I will leave you with pictures of celebrities that share your eye color. Have a beautiful day!
